Let us go through some of those wild misconceptions in the market which make people rethink their option of choosing epoxy:
1. Paint Can Protect As Well As Epoxy
There is a big misconception brewing in the market these days that paint can be a great alternative to epoxy to protect the surface. Let’s make this clear that paint is always one of the options but is nowhere near epoxy in terms of effectiveness. Epoxy will provide way better results in terms of surface protection against any sort of paint use. It is mainly because of the chemical reaction that takes place after the mixing of resin and the hardener which makes epoxy hard and chemically bond with the surface providing much better protection. The non-porous characteristic of the epoxy means it will not allow any spill to pass through giving it an extra layer of protection.
2. Epoxy Is Too Slippery
This could certainly be termed true in some context that epoxy is slippery and make people concerned about this. But this is just a half-truth. A lot of additives are generally added which makes epoxy non-slip. As soon as we add these addictives epoxy becomes a much better option for use in comparison to other materials on the market. This is the reason that we see epoxy floors being used largely in hospitals, schools, restaurants, and many other commercial places.
3. Epoxy Needs Re-coating Often
Another misconception about the epoxy floor is that it will need re-coating often. It is far from true though. Epoxies are made tough and in commercial places, with high foot traffic, they can last for more than 10 years. They have been observed to last for several decades in places with fewer footfalls. All it requires is proper cleaning and maintenance techniques being used which will help it last longer.
4. Epoxy Is Expensive
People usually see the upfront cost of the epoxy and make the presumption that epoxy is pretty expensive against the alternate. It is certainly true in terms of upfront cost but people will have to understand that you won't have to worry about re-coating the floor for years to come. You will have to spend much less on its maintenance in the coming years and won’t have to worry about redoing the floors for years to come. This makes your money well spent.
